Dear Friends & Orchestre Surreal Heads!
On After nearly 3 decades with Elvis Schoenberg's Orchestre Surreal, The Fabulous Miss Thing (my OS musical alter-ego) is hanging up her platinum wig & tiara. The Los Angeles-based Orchestre Surreal is the madcap 30-piece orchestral ensemble that marries high-brow and low-brow, in brilliant intersections of rock & pop classics with classical & symphonic repertoire. Spike Jones meets Frank Zappa. Elvis Presley meets Arnold Schoenberg. Abbott meets Costello! The Orchestre Surreal customarily operates as a concert orchestra, but has over the years mounted scripted shows, like Dismembering the Classics and our Los Angeles Music & Media Award-winning show Symphony of the Absurd, always with the mission to boldly go where no orchestra has gone before.
As it's time for a new chapter in my life, I sang my farewell concert with the OS, for whom I'd been the lead female vocalist since 1996, on June 27th, 2024 at the Muckenthaler Amphitheatre in Fullerton, CA.
Please enjoy "The Fabulous Thing 28-Year Retrospective" SHORT FEATURE. Ah, the memories!
XO
Angela
